Netflix has a lot of shows with incredible lineups, but one chaotic blend of comedy, thriller, and character drama stands out. A lot of great turn their relatively unknown cast members into A-list stars thanks to their success, as well as relaunching the careers of their supporting actors.

However, it is just as common for the streaming service to invest in starry casts to get viewers interested. This approach worked 2016’s Maniac, which starred Emma Stone and Jonah Hill, and , which boasted Tessa Thompson, Jon Bernthal, and Halo’s Pablo Schreiber. However, the two-season drama anthology puts those lineups to shame.

Both Seasons of Netflix’s Beef Have Incredible Casts

Beef season 1 starred Steven Yeun as Danny Cho and Ali Wong as Amy Lau, a pair of characters whose lives are irreversibly changed when they get involved in a road rage incident. Danny is a contractor, and Amy is a small business owner, but as , both characters abandon their ordinary lives in pursuit of revenge.

Released in April 2026, Beef season 1 was a massive hit for Netflix, winning Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series at the Emmys and Best Limited or Anthology Series or Television Film at the Golden Globes. It isn’t hard to see why, since the show’s unique blend of spiky black comedy, twisty thrills, and poignant character drama was utterly unique.

However, that wasn’t all that Beef season 1 had going for it. The show’s cast was incredible, with Yeun and Wong both winning awards for their central roles, and superb supporting work from Ashley Park, Joseph Lee, Maria Bello, and Kelvin Han Yee. It seemed impossible for season 2 to outdo this until the series announced an ingenious twist.

Beef’s Anthology Approach Means The Netflix Show’s Cast Is Only Getting Better

Since will be an anthology series, the upcoming outing introduces an all-new lead cast. Judging by the lineup, the series could very well become Netflix's , as the streaming service invested in some impressive stars for its sophomore season.

Oscar Isaac plays country club manager Josh, while Carey Mulligan plays his wife, Lindsay. May December’s breakout star Charles Mellon plays Austin, a personal trainer, while Civil War’s Cailee Spaeny plays his fiancée Ashley.

With supporting roles for the likes of William Fichtner, Youn Yuh-jung, and Korean rapper BM, Beef season 2 will be an even starrier affair than its predecessor, and one of 2026’s most anticipated shows. If it manages to live up to season 1, Beef could become Netflix’s premiere anthology show.
