subscribers have come to the right place to find exciting movies to watch on the streaming service this weekend, as three very different genres get spotlighted. This is the first edition of our Disney+ movie recommendations, following the success of ScreenRant's and . Disney+'s movie roster is quite stacked, making it one to watch.

To start us off, I decided to look into different genres, ensuring that every viewer gets something tailored to their taste. As such, for those in search of intriguing action thrillers, there is one featuring an Academy Award winner. The list also includes a classic dramedy that is experiencing a resurgence for a very good reason. To end, it is a recent theatrical hit — a Sci-Fi gem.

Disney+ is usually thought of as the go-to streaming service for those looking for franchises. After all, if one wants to watch some of the biggest cinematic franchises of all time, such as Star Wars or the , then Disney+ is the perfect landing point. With that in mind, I had to include at least one of those mega franchises in our recommendations.

That said, rest assured that this will not be a full Marvel Cinematic Universe list, with a single superhero movie included, and it is one that has brought a completely fresh perspective to the genre. In a year when Marvel will release two of its biggest movies ever — Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday — the studio is on everyone's radar. Check out the :

3 The Amateur (2026)

First up is The Amateur, which is an action thriller that might have gone unnoticed by many when it was in theaters. While The Amateur only grossed $96 million against a $60 million budget, losing millions after marketing and other expenses enter the equation, the film is a wild ride. The Amateur has a high 87% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The action thriller follows Rami Malek as Charlie Heller, a genius CIA cryptographer who goes rogue on a globe-trotting mission to avenge his wife by finding those responsible for the terrorist attack that took her life. The Amateur has impactful action, creative reveals, and an emotional starting point. Its cast also includes heavy hitters like Jon Bernthal, Laurence Fishburne, Rachel Brosnahan, and more.

2 The Devil Wears Prada (2006)

Next is The Devil Wears Prada. Sure, the 2006 movie is a classic, which means most Disney+ subscribers must have at least watched it once already. However, there is no better time for a rewatch, or finally watching it if you haven't yet. After all, the franchise is now coming back for more, with The Devil Wears Prada 2 releasing in theaters on May 1.

The Devil Wears Prada is a dramedy that takes viewers into the competitive world of high fashion. It features powerful performances from Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, with a talented ensemble that includes names like Emily Blunt, Simon Baker, Stanley Tucci, Adrian Grenier, and more. The struggles of Hathaway's Andy feel all too relatable to many.

1 The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2026)

Finally, closing the list is Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps. I believe this is the perfect companion piece to the recent interest in space that has come from Ryan Gosling's hit movie Project Hail Mary, which is in theaters right now, and NASA's Artemis II astronauts. The Fantastic Four: First Steps is a gorgeous Sci-Fi movie with impressive visuals.

Taking place on a different Earth in the MCU multiverse, the film presents a retro-futuristic aesthetic that makes it completely stand out in the genre. It is optimistic, hopeful, and holds a powerful message about family. The Fantastic Four's powers and villains, like Galactus, have never looked as good. The MCU movie is an epic way to end the weekend on Disney+.
