may have taken years to get released, but it has already gotten one major accomplishment.

The road to release has been long for Coyote vs. Acme, which was first announced all the way back in 2018. The project was first derailed by COVID, but it was eventually filmed in 2026 as the pandemic was dying down. Despite being fully filmed and mostly edited, Warner Bros. then canceled the film's release the following year.

According to official analytics from WaveMetrix (via Deadline), the new Coyote vs. Acme trailer has set a view record. Amassing a whopping 25.6 million views in the first 24 hours after its Wednesday drop, the trailer is the most-watched family film trailer from an independent studio of all time.

The release comes as the film is still several months out. The movie has an end-of-summer release, slated for August 28 this year. The impressive number of views of this trailer so far in advance of its release indicates a strong ongoing interest in the film.

This beats the record previously held by the The King of Kings. This 3D animated film from last year is a faith-based story of Jesus' life, narrated by author Charles Dickens. Released close to Easter, the film ended up scoring a $19.3 million domestic opening weekend and an overall run of $83.5 million worldwide.

Earnings like these would be significant for Coyote vs. Acme, which could follow a similar path if its trailer hype is any indication. Reports say that Ketchup Entertainment bought the rights to the film for somewhere around $50 million. This situates their break-even number somewhere between $100 and $150 million.

Profits like this would be a significant message to Warner Bros., which allegedly axed the film for tax write-off purposes. It took until 2026 for Ketchup to save the film, and later still to announce the release date. So, even before the box office is revealed, record-breaking trailer watch numbers represent significant progress.

, only grossed $15.4 million worldwide during its early 2026 run, giving their next venture a long way to go. This previous effort, however, did not have nearly as much early buzz and publicity as Coyote vs. Acme.

The animated-live-action hybrid film features a star-studded human cast, including John Cena, , and Lana Condor. This high-profile group will also be a significant boost to Coyote vs. Acme, whose trailer success and ongoing enthusiastic fan base bode well.
