If there is one thing DC Comics knows well, it's that Batman doesn't work alone. The brooding detective may have begun his crimefighting career solo, but following the debut of Robin, any pretense of Bruce Wayne being a lone wolf was culled. For decades now, Batman has followed Bruce as the billionaire fought to keep Gotham safe with his proteges on hand. From Dick Grayson to Damian Wayne, the legacy that Robin carries is impossible to ignore, but the Absolute Universe is going to flip the mantle on its head. And to start, the universe is giving Nightwing the absolute best logo makeover imaginable.

The re-imagining in question comes courtesy of Absolute Batman, of course. The recently and has earned high praise for its gritty take on Bruce Wayne. The hero is far from the wealthy billionaire readers met decades ago, and this revision had a major impact on Dick Grayson's upbringing. The vigilante, who we know best as Nightwing, did not grow up in a mansion with Bruce teaching him the ropes. Instead, Dick was orphaned and raised by Jack Grimm instead, and this shift has changed Nightwing's logo.

As you can see above, the hero's new logo can be found on the mech suit Dick controls as the leader of the Robin Program. The operation, which is funded by Grimm in secret, gives Dick the opportunity to tackle Gotham City crime with some familiar colleagues. The mission may be funded by Grimm in a bid to defeat Batman, but it isn't all Dick does. By day, the hero is an EMT, and that is why Nightwing's new logo includes a medical cross. Decked out in his usual blue colors, his medical skill and proves his passion for helping people go beyond the battlefield.

Nightwing's New Logo Is The Perfect Upgrade For Dick Grayson

Of course, Nightwing's civilian work as an EMT is a major departure for the hero. In the main DC Universe, Dick most often works as a police officer or does the vigilante gig full-time while being a socialite. Bruce trained his protégé to handle the spotlight as well as seedy criminals, so his previous careers made perfect sense. Now, Dick's reach as an EMT, and this calling suits the hero perfectly.

Looking at Batman's array of Robins, few of his proteges suit the medical field quite like Dick. Jason Todd's aggressive nature puts his demeanor into question, and Timothy Drake is too analytical for the field. Damian Wayne has shown great interest in the medical field, but in the Absolute Universe, the boy doesn't exist as Bruce and Talia al Ghul haven't even met. When it comes to the main Robins in this universe, Dick fits the role of a medic, but he cannot uphold the Hippocratic Oath in full. After all, Dick cannot uphold the "do no harm" .

Absolute Batman is going to find out just how destructive Dick can be in the coming weeks. DC Comics has unveiled its Absolute Robins, and the high-tech heroes have a major grudge against Bruce. In the wake of Commissioner Gordon's death, the group is convinced the murder was intentional on Batman's part, so he must be stopped at all costs. With Grimm supporting them as the Joker in secret, the Robin Program is gunning for Batman in a major way, and its members will not go easy on Bruce. But as the heroes learn about Grimm's true identity, you can with Robin before long. The pair just need to shed some blood before then.
