The series might be in a pretty good and popular place right now, with the release of the second season of the Prime Video adaptation, but the sad fact remains that we aren't getting a new game any time soon.

Todd Howard and his cohorts at Bethesda are almost entirely focused on right now, and Fallout 5 is very much further behind on the agenda. Though the next game in the series is a bit of a pipe dream, the immense modding community surrounding the earlier games continues to pump out new experiences, and their work should be more than enough to get us through while the main developer does their work.

As first by DSO Gaming, modder ‘Security95’ has just released the Vault 13 New Horizons Mod for Fallout 4. That mod serves as a follow-up to the original mod, with this one adding new locations, quests, characters, and weapons.

If you aren't familiar with the , it set out to deliver a total conversion that brings the first ever game in the series into the Fallout 4 engine. New Horizons picks up where that one left off, with the developer working on the project aiming to recreate the entire game given enough time. That said, they have also actively made the decision to remove the open world elements in favor of enclosed zones that will speed up the project significantly and aid them in transferring the first game across.

The mod also includes fun elements like random encounters when leaving areas like Junktown, and all the big locales like the tragic Shady Sands are set to feature. Even more impressively than that, almost all of the main cast of characters are now voiced, so there won't be any awakward silences while you work through the quest.
