Melissa Benoist flies again as in art.

Benoist gave life to Kara Zor-El across . As the Arrowverse's version of the character, the actress played Supergirl in several crossover events, taking on major villains like Lex Luthor, the Anti-Monitor, and many more. Benoist's Supergirl formed the Arrowverse's Trinity alongside Stephen Amell's Green Arrow and Grant Gustin's The Flash. She also shared the screen with Superman, who was played by Tyler Hoechlin before he led his own TV show, Superman & Lois. Now, five years after Supergirl season 6 debuted, Benoist has taken to the skies in fan art for .

On Instagram, shared what Melissa Benoist's Supergirl would look like in place of Milly Alcock's Kara in the .

The film, which releases in theaters on June 26, will mark the return of the House of the Dragon star as the Girl of Steel after she made her DCU debut at the very end of 2026's Superman. In the new DC fan art, Benoist's Supergirl dons the same brown coat and sunglasses that Alcock's take on the character has in the DCU movie's official poster. The main differences are that Benoist has her own Supergirl suit beneath the coat and is staring straight ahead, not to the side, like Alcock's. Two other pieces show her with Krypto and more.

While Benoist has not played Supergirl in a long time, she remains in the loop of what is happening with Kara in live-action. Speaking to ScreenRant on March 1, 2026, about what she was most excited to see in this new version of Supergirl's story. According to the actress, every version of Supergirl is exciting "because of what she stands for." Additionally, the Arrowverse star hopes that with every new take on the DC hero, "someone will see themselves in it." For Benoist, it is all about Supergirl being "valuable for young women."

Benoist also has experience in a medium that should prove important for Alcock's iteration of Supergirl somewhere down the line for the . After all, when DC Studios co-CEOs Peter Safran and James Gunn announced the first movies and TV shows that would be part of the franchise, they confirmed that actors would get to play their characters in live-action movies and shows, as well as animation and video games. While , Benoist's work will always be there to show how Supergirl can soar on TV.

Could Melissa Benoist Ever Play Supergirl Again?

The DC fan art's tagline is "In Some Multiverse." Well, that would likely have to be the case if Benoist were to ever play Supergirl again. As it stands, DC has no other major franchises in live-action or animation right now that could feature a version of Supergirl that was not Alcock's. Benoist's best bet to return as Supergirl would have to be in a DCU multiverse event, which could put together her and Alcock's versions of Kara.

Given the fan campaign for Gunn to cast Grant Gustin as the DCU's The Flash, perhaps the multiverse could be used for the Arrowverse's heroes to interact with the DCU. Peacemaker season 2 did introduce alternate Earths, so that could happen in the future. Another scenario, though less likely, is that Benoist could return as Power Girl, the Earth-Two Supergirl, and stay in the DCU.
