Much to the delight (and chagrin) of fans everywhere, The Pokémon Company is no stranger . I remember getting my Mew ages ago during the first Generation, and catching event distributions at stores for many Generations after.

The thing is, over time, internet capabilities have made at-home distribution that much easier. Eventually, Mystery Gifts did some of the heavy lifting, allowing players to grab special Pokémon from the comfort of their home. To add even more complexity to the mix, The Pokémon Company also added Pokémon Home-specific events.

Over on , Serebii has revealed a new shiny Mythical Pokémon distribution, but you'll have to work a bit harder than usual for it. Casual and hardcore fans alike should keep an eye out, as this is a pretty rare opportunity to grab a unique version of a beloved Mythical Pokémon that pops up fairly often in various media.

Home Shiny Volcanian

Thanks to a new Pokémon Home distribution, you can get a Shiny Volcanion. Volcanion was added in the sixth generation (X&Y) as a Mythical Pokémon, which has since appeared in several other games, and had its own movie: Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel. Notably, it also had a guest appearance in Pokémon Pokopia recently.

While the prospect of a free Mythical Pokémon is intriguing, there are some requirements you'll need to hit within Pokémon Home before you can claim it:

  • Complete the Lumiose Pokédex
  • Complete the Hyperspace Pokédex
  • Complete the Mega Evolution Pokédex

For anyone who has played Z-A (myself included), this is a fairly impressive task, especially since you'll need to hit a lot of side quests in the DLC to grab all the Mega Evolutions required to finish the list.

That said, since , it will be a lot easier to work your way through these requirements. Since Z-A errs on the side of providing new Megas and not a lot else, you can bring in existing Pokémon from HOME to finish out a lot of the Lumiose and Hyperspace 'Dexes. At the end of the day, it's nice to have a little gift to reward you for your efforts if you do actually accomplish everything.

Currently, there is no known end date for this distribution event. It's a good thing, too, because while I have the Lumiose Pokedex completed in short order, I'm still working on finishing the Hyperspace Dex naturally without the use of HOME (only a few more to go).

Like other "completion" bonuses, it seems like this one is here to stay, and incentivizes people to fully complete Pokémon Legends: Z-A. While finishing up the Lumiose Pokédex isn't too difficult even without the help of HOME, the Hyperspace and Megas are another tier entirely, especially given the RNG nature of the DLC.
