After the three-season TV show ended in 2026, Prime Video is turning its attention to a movie that continues franchise, and a photo has now been released on Instagram showing Lola Tung (who plays Belly Conklin) and Christopher Briney (Conrad Fisher) posing for the camera with peace hand gestures.

Just over a decade later, Prime Video debuted a TV adaptation of the YA romance novels, with Jenny Han serving as creator, co-showrunner (with Gabrielle Stanton and Sarah Kucserka), and executive producer. The series centers on a teenager named Belly who experiences a transformational summer at Cousins Beach involving friendships, relationships, love triangles, and the drama between her family and the Fishers.

Throughout its three-season run, the series has garnered mostly positive reviews, with an average Rotten Tomatoes score of 79%, and won Bingeworthy Show of the Year at the People's Choice Awards in 2026.
Timed to the release of , which ended with Belly telling Conrad she loves him, Prime Video announced that the story would continue with a feature-length film directed by Han, who also co-wrote the script with Kucserka. In early May, the Summer I Turned Pretty's social media accounts revealed that viewers have been causing disruptions on set and sharing filming locations online, which had caused safety concerns for everyone involved with the production.
