A new sports comedy titled The Hawk is set to join Netflix's offerings on July 16, following the massive success of Ted Lasso. The series stars Will Ferrell as Lonnie "The Hawk" Hawkins, a former world number one golfer aiming for a Grand Slam victory. Ferrell, who also produced the show, takes on the lead role and executive producer status.
The cast includes Luke Wilson as rival Golden Fisk, Jimmy Tatro as son and golfer Lance, Katelyn Tarver as influencer Natalie, Fortune Feimster as caddie Sam, Chris Parnell as PGA board member Anton, and David Hornsby as Radford. Additional cast members feature appearances from Ferrell and Shannon's previous collaborators like Saturday Night Live and Anchorman.
Produced in partnership with the PGA Tour, the series will air before Ted Lasso Season 4. While comparisons to Sudeikis' show are expected, "The Hawk" draws closer parallels to Apple TV's Stick in its golf-centric narrative.
Netflix will premiere "The Hawk" on July 16, offering viewers a fresh take on sports comedy.
