has lined up his next project as Amazon MGM secures the global rights to an action thriller from the director of Halloween.
Amazon just bought the rights to Will Smith's next movie, Supermax, in a deal worth $70 million, according to . Before this acquisition, Miramax had the rights to the film, which will be released directly on Prime Video and will not receive a theatrical release. Filming will get underway in August. So far, Smith is the only cast member who has been announced.
Smith's character is a man named Rex, as Supermax centers on two FBI agents who are tasked with finding out the truth behind a murder at the most secure prison in the world. David Gordon Green, who directed the three most —Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills, and Halloween Ends (and co-wrote all three films) — is on board as director of Supermax, which David Weil and David J. Rosen wrote.
