Since its debut in 2026, few cartoons have been as impactful or held in as high regard as Disney’s , and for good reason. Not only did the series have great action, worldbuilding, and an engaging, linear story that worked surprisingly well, but it was one of the first times that a kids’ show was so open with its queer characters and themes from start to finish, with the main character even entering a same-sex relationship halfway through the show, and it all came together for a story that succeeded in almost every regard.
There’s never been a cartoon quite like The Owl House, and while brought it to an end after three seasons in 2026, the series is still as popular as ever, and is even being published in fall 2026. Naturally, there’s plenty of great content for Owl House fans outside the fandom, as well, and that’s truer now than it’s ever been, as Crunchyroll just dropped an amazing fantasy epic that’s perfect for Owl House fans.
Witch Hat Atelier Is The Perfect Anime For Anyone Missing The Owl House
If there’s any anime that The Owl House fans should be watching, it’s . Not only are they both coming-of-age stories about a young girl trying to become a witch in a conformist society while teaching others about empathy, but they also feature an elaborate magic system centered on drawing magic circles in specific ways to create unique magical effects, all of which is portrayed with clever direction and gorgeous visuals at every turn.
Witch Hat Atelier is also great for anyone looking for another series with queer themes like The Owl House. Granted, it doesn’t have a lot of explicit LGBTQ+ content, but the dynamics of Coco and Agott and Qifrey and Olruggio have much of the intimacy and emotional depth fans of that sort of storytelling can appreciate, with Coco and Agott even feeling reminiscent of Luz and Amity at times, and considering how there is an explicitly same-sex couple in Galga and Atwert, it wouldn’t be surprising if more of the sort would follow.

Even without its synergy with The Owl House, though, there’s no denying that Witch Hat Atelier is already a top contender for the . Witch Hat Atelier stands far above its peers not only for the depth of its magic system, but for how much it leans into the gray morality of its setting to show how truly complicated the world is, as well; it’s a series that excels in its writing just as much as it does in its visuals, and just after two episodes, the anime has done a perfect job of bringing that to life.
