Chad Powers Season 2 Set to Return to Hulu in Fall 2026

Glen Powell's sports comedy is returning this year, according to co-creator Michael Waldron.

Waldron revealed (via ) that Chad Powers season 2 is "coming to Hulu this fall!" This update was revealed as part of a major announcement that the showrunner and co-creator has extended his contract with 20th Television, which means Waldron is expected to create even more network and streaming shows, aside from continuing Chad Powers.

“I’m proud to continue my partnership with the home team at Disney. Dana [Walden], Craig [Erwich], and Karey are great collaborators who take chances on wild ideas. Speaking of which, I’d like to use this opportunity to remind you to tune into Chad Powers season 2, coming to Hulu this fall!”

In a statement, 20th Television president Karey Burke said that Waldron brings a "creative tenacity to every project...that's truly contagious," before adding that his "unique voice" and passion for his craft "elevates everyone" he works with. Burke expressed her happiness that Disney and 20th Television will continue to be Waldron's "creative home for the years to come."

Chad Powers isn't Waldron's first project at Disney. He previously worked on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Loki, and is returning to the MCU as co-screenwriter of the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday.

Before Chad Powers, like The Expendables 3, Hidden Figures, Top Gun: Maverick and Twisters. His small-screen credits include Scream Queens and Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. As his fame surged following the Top Gun sequel, Powell added The Running Man, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Chad Powers to his resume.

Powell stars in Chad Powers as a former football star named Russ Holliday who falls from grace and attempts to make a comeback by going undercover as a player on a college football team.

His co-stars on the show include Perry Mattfeld, Wynn Everett, Quentin Plair, Frankie Rodriguez, Steve Zahn, Toby Huss, Colton Ryan, Clayne Crawford, Keese Wilson, and Xavier Mills.

Co-creators Powell and Waldron also serve as executive producers with Eli Manning (who guest-starred in the first season), Peyton Manning, Adam Fasullo, Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown, Burke Magnus, Brian Lockhart, Kati Fernandez, Tony Zacenda, and Luvh Rakhe.

When , it received a 59% critic score and 83% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and earned Powell Best Actor nominations at the Golden Globes and Satellite Awards.

The six-episode first season ended with South Georgia Catfish assistant coach Ricky Hudson realizing that Chad Powers is really Russ Holliday when he takes Coach Hudson to the hospital following a heart attack.

Ricky confronts Chad/Russ and reveals she's going to tell the public the truth about his identity. Russ turns the tables on her, though, when he makes it clear how much the team will be ruined if she goes through with her plan.

Filming for just ended after production got underway in January. After directing the season 1 finale, Waldron is taking on an even bigger behind-the-scenes role as director of four episodes next season, two of which are the premiere and finale episodes.

A premiere date for Chad Powers season 2 hasn't been announced yet, but based on Waldron's latest update, fans can expect the series to return in fall 2026.
