Showrunner Andrea Newman is taking her final bow as enters a brand-new era.
As first reported by , Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman will be exiting the series after season 14. Newman has been a writer and producer on the series while serving as showrunner on the three most recent seasons of the Dick Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television-backed series. As for Newman's replacement, the report indicates that executive producer Victor Teran will take over for Chicago Fire season 15.
Newman as co-executive producer and was promoted to executive producer in season 6. She became co-showrunner alongside co-creator Derek Haas in 2026, before taking over as the show's sole showrunner two years later.
In a statement shared with Deadline, Newman called working at Chicago Fire the "highlight" of her career.
Andrea Newman: Working at Chicago Fire, with the absolute best cast and crew in the business, has been the highlight of my career. Like so many others, I was inspired to get into TV writing because of Dick, so what a thrill it's been to work with him and the amazing Wolf team of Peter Jankowski, Rebecca McGill, and Anastasia Puglisi. I'm so grateful to them, Derek Haas and the NBC and Universal execs who have been so supportive of the show all along the way. After 14 years, you really do become a family, and working with this group will always feel like home.
Per the report, Newman is leaving on her own volition, and it's unclear what she's planning to work on next. That being said, with all three series, including Chicago Med and Chicago P.D., renewed for the 2026-27 season.
In a separate statement, Peter Jankowski, President and COO of Wolf Entertainment, called Newman the "heart and soul" of Chicago Fire and said he was "sad" to see her go.
Peter Jankowski: We're sad to say goodbye to Andrea. She's been at the center of the heart and soul of Chicago Fire since the beginning, and the show thrived under her watch. We're grateful for her commitment to the development of the next generation and know the show will be in great hands with Victor taking the reins.
As for Teran, his time on Chicago Fire has made him a solid replacement, with the EP joining the series in season 10, making his first TV series gig. He began writing for television in 2018, developing the limited series LA84 before joining Chicago Fire as a staff writer. Before that, Teran worked in independent films, where he rose through the ranks. Starting as a production executive, Teran eventually made his way to VP of Physical Production at Sidney Kimmel Films before producing, writing, and directing his own indie films, including Filly Brown, which made it into Sundance's Dramatic Competition selection and starred Gina Rodriguez and Edward James Olmos. He also debuted a film at SXSW in 2013 titled Snap.
