James Marsden is returning to Apple TV in the upcoming thriller series Disavowed.

Marsden has previously starred in Apple TV's dark comedy crime drama show Your Friends & Neighbors, in which he played the character of Owen Ashe opposite Jon Hamm's Andrew "Coop" Cooper in season 2. Outside of Apple TV, include President Cal Bradford in Hulu's Paradise, Teddy Flood in HBO's Westworld, Steve Wood and Ben Wood in Netflix's Dead to Me, Tom Wachowski in the Sonic the Hedgehog movies, Prince Edward in Enchanted and Disenchanted, and Scott Summers/Cyclops in numerous X-Men movies.

now reports that Marsden will lead the Apple TV thriller series Disavowed as “legendary CIA Case Officer Brad Griffin, who is abruptly fired in the middle of a global hunt for an elusive assassin responsible for killing his colleague. Disgraced and outcast from the world of intelligence, all bets are off when Brad decides to go after the 15 million dollar federal bounty on the assassin’s head.”

The story is an original concept by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, who are executive producers on the series alongside Marsden and Tom Spezialy. Theresa Kang and Carolina Garity will also executive produce via Blue Marble Pictures, with Apple Studios producing as well.

Aside from the upcoming Apple TV series, Marcum and Holloway also co-wrote , which was the film that kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008. The film begins with Tony Stark trapped after being captured in Afghanistan and building his first Iron suit to escape.

The duo co-wrote another Marvel film as well, , starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson. It depicts the origin story of the titular character, also known as Sergei Kravinoff, who seeks to take down his estranged father. He gains animalistic superpowers, transforming him into a terrifying vigilante and one of the deadliest hunters of all time.

Unlike Iron Man, which was a massive success, Kraven the Hunter was a giant loss and completely tanked. The latter made $62 million worldwide ($25 million domestically) against a budget of between $110 to $130 million. Meanwhile, the former grossed over $585 million worldwide with a $140 million budget.

Marsden has several exciting projects coming out, with one of the most highly anticipated titles being Avengers: Doomsday. The actor will reprise his role as the mutant Cyclops in the upcoming MCU film. Many believe that Marsden's portrayal of the character was spot on. However, they also believe that his role was overshadowed by Hugh Jackman's Wolverine in the original X-Men trilogy (2000–2006) and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014).

There is currently no release date for Disavowed.
