Confidence in Netflix has taken a hit in recent years, as the streaming platform has gained a reputation for canceling TV shows before their time. Many of have been series with great potential and a fantastic cast, leaving many viewers feeling that the platform needs to commit to its most promising shows.

While Guy Ritchie remaking his own story was a creative risk, it has paid off surprisingly well. The TV show and the movie have very similar Rotten Tomatoes ratings, with critics giving the movie a three-point lead while audiences rated both as 84% positive. Both have the same tone, with plenty of comedy and brutal action, which allows the two to blend seamlessly.

are larger-than-life, and it could have been fun to include some on the TV show. That said, the fact that there are currently no crossover characters has allowed the series to be appreciated on its own, with the opportunity to make changes. The biggest change is what allows viewers to binge The Gentlemen series before or after the movie.

The story in The Gentlemen movie is mostly told from the point of view of Mickey Pearson, who became a narcotics baron and sells weed from underneath aristocrats' stately homes. The movie follows his attempt to sell his empire and move on. On the other hand, the 2026 TV show is largely told from Eddie’s point of view as he stands to build and run the empire.

The two projects tell the same story from different sides, which was a smart writing choice, allowing viewers to watch them in any order. With just eight episodes with a runtime of around 50 minutes each, the series can be watched in a day, and with the movie running for just under two hours, it is possible to binge the entire franchise at once.
