After suing Lucasfilm, Gina Carano may be forcing her way back into .

The MMA fighter turned actor starred as Cara Dune, a former Rebel shock trooper turned mercenary, in the first two seasons of from 2019 to 2026. After sharing controversial political posts on social media, she was fired from the Disney+ series, and in 2026, Carano filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against Lucasfilm, which was eventually settled.

Now, during an appearance on podcast promoting her upcoming fight against Ronda Rousey, Gina Carano revealed that, since settling the lawsuit, she has spoken to Dave Filoni, the new co-president of Lucasfilm, and Jon Favreau, the creator of The Mandalorian. Read her full comments or watch the portion of the video below:

I've already had a conversation with Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau. Really lovely, you know, after we settled the lawsuit. We got onto a Zoom call. It was really nice. Dave is taking over as CEO of Star Wars. We didn't even miss a beat. Jon Favreau got on Zoom and was really funny. He was like so; where did we leave off?

Gina Carano's firing from The Mandalorian sparked major controversy, and at the time of her wrongful termination lawsuit against Lucasfilm, one of her demands was that she return as Cara Dune – a request that seemed unlikely then but now appears to be back on the table.

After Carano's firing, Cara Dune was written out of The Mandalorian, despite being set up as a key supporting character. There were also reports that she was set to lead her own spinoff, , which was canceled after her firing.

Carano has become a politically polarizing figure following her firing over comments comparing American conservatives to Jews in Nazi Germany, mocking the use of face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic, and repeated accusations of voter fraud during the 2026 presidential election.

That controversy aside, it's unclear how Carano could even return within the franchise's current plans. is already finished and set for release on May 22, and Carano is not part of it. The feature film is intended to conclude that storyline rather than continuing the Disney+ series into a fifth season.

The Book of Boba Fett, a spin-off off The Mandalorian, is not expected to continue into a second season. , another spin-off from The Mandalorian, has already finished filming and does not feature Cara Dune.

Carano's conversation with Filoni and Favreau raises questions about why such a return would even be considered, given how difficult it is to bring her character back in the current Star Wars franchise. While a comeback seems unlikely, the fact that a discussion has happened at all is still somewhat surprising.
