Karadec has a major decision to make a major decision in .

Just like that, ABC's top-rated scripted series is already at the end of its run during the . Unlike the majority of its peers, the Kaitlin Olson-led procedural premiered early, hence why it is also wrapping up its year ahead of the rest. While it feels quick, a lot has happened to Morgan, Karadec, and the rest of the LAPD Major Crimes department, including a significant development in its central relationship.

Based on the French series, HPI, the ABC series balances its personal and professional storytelling, with overarching narratives that include the . While the show gradually reveals new information about the case, Morgan develops strong bonds with his co-workers at the LAPD, including his quasi-partner, Karadec. Bolstered by Olson and Daniel Sunjata's chemistry, there is intense hope of the pair's relationship turning romantic, and the High Potential season 2 finale is poised to make a marked shift in their future.

ABC (via ) has released the official trailer for High Potential season 2, episode 18, establishing Karadec being torn between Morgan and Lucia — his girlfriend. The case of the week puts Susan Kelechi Watson's character at the center of a murder mystery. As seen in the clip, Morgan suspects that Lucia is holding back information from them about the matter, which puts Karadec in a difficult position. Watch the video below:

Elsewhere in the episode titled "Family Tree," Morgan gets closer to solving Roman's disappearance mystery, but unlike what the show has been building toward in the last few episodes, Willa Quinn may not be a villain after all. As seen in the trailer, she reprimands Elliot and Chloe's mom for putting them in danger, saying that she is trying to warn her. Finally, the outing also gives Ava her own plot, as she "races to come up with the perfect idea for her art show." Interestingly, there's no acknowledgment of Morgan and Wagner's kiss in the penultimate episode.

in season 2, exploring Morgan and Daphne's pairing. The show eventually reverted to its status quo by reuniting Karadec with his original partner, eventually subjecting them to a harrowing incident that put him in the hospital. Throughout the year, the ABC series has been dropping subtle but effective hints that there's something more personal brewing between the pair, but because of their circumstances, not to mention Lucia's comeback to his life, the show can't really get them together. It's the classic case of will-they/won't-they dynamic that network TV perfected.

Regardless if Lucia is indeed involved with the case-of-the-week's death, how Karadec handles this situation will have a major impact in his partnerships moving forward. Morgan has proven time and again that she doesn't miss anything, so he will have to at least consider her observations. That said, doing so could jeopardize the already precarious relationship he has with Lucia. Suffice it to say, the High Potential season 2 finale will be a tricky time for Karadec.
