Per Deadline, has now been renewed for season 2 on Fox. The news comes on April 6, the same day that the season 1 finale is airing. After joining the series halfway through production of season 1 and replacing original showrunners Ed Whitmore, Tracey Malone, and David Schulner, Aaron Zelman and Glenn Kessler will continue to serve as the showrunners in season 2. Read a statement about the renewal below from Michael Thorn, President of Fox Television Network, and Channing Dungey, Chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. Television Group and WBD US Networks:

Michael Thorn: Memory of a Killer has become a true standout with visceral performances from Patrick Dempsey and Michael Imperioli. Aaron Zelman, Glenn Kessler, and our partners at Warner Bros. Television have delivered a sharp, emotional character-driven thriller that’s clearly landed with viewers, and we’re excited to continue that success together in Season 2.

Channing Dungey: We’re thrilled Fox has renewed Memory of a Killer for a second season, a richly deserved renewal given the show’s great critical, creative, and commercial success. The performances of Patrick Dempsey and Michael Imperioli have been powerful and compelling, and we can’t wait to see what the show’s brilliant creative team has in store for Angelo’s next chapter.

Dempsey leads as Angelo Doyle, a professional hitman whose double life is threatened by having early-onset Alzheimer's disease. As he loses his memory and following an attack on his pregnant daughter Maria (Odeya Rush), Angelo needs to dig into the past to discover the truth and protect himself and those he cares about before it's too late. Michael Imperioli plays Dutch Forlanni, Angelo's employer and friend whose Italian restaurant is a front for criminal activity. The story is an adaptation of the 1985 novel De Zaak Alzheimer and the 2003 film that has the same name.

The two-episode premiere aired after the NFC Championship Game in January and brought in 16.2 million viewers across various platforms. On Hulu, it became the most-watched premiere on the streaming service for a Fox show in January 2026. The viewership on Fox has dwindled as the season progressed, but the show has consistently been in Hulu's top 10. New episodes come to the platform the day after they air on Fox.

In terms of reception, Memory of a Killer has a 50% score from critics and a 74% score from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. The viewership, particularly on Hulu, was enough to warrant a season renewal, though. It joins Best Medicine, Doc, and Animal Control as other Fox shows that are confirmed to be coming back for another season.
