The latest rumor that has been floating around online is that not only is Sink playing Jean as part of , but that her contract with Marvel Studios has her signed up for five MCU movies, with options to also appear in TV shows. Another rumor is that her X-Men hero will be the central character of the supposed Mutant Saga after Phase 6.
However, like most MCU rumors, Marvel Studios has yet to confirm or deny any of the claims, including whether or not Sink is playing Jean in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. is still in development for the franchise, as Thunderbolts*' Jake Schreier will be directing the reboot. A screenplay was penned by Michael Lesslie, who boarded the project in 2026.
How The MCU Could Be Setting Up Sadie Sink's Jean Grey Ahead Of X-Men
Time will tell if Sink is playing Jean, but if is indeed bringing the Stranger Things actor as the Marvel icon, the franchise has already been planting seeds for the big X-Men era at Marvel Studios. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will reportedly have the Department of Damage Control involved, and with mutants being part of the powered individuals that they are going after, Jean's rumored role in the film is more than fitting.
While Marvel Studios has not confirmed or denied it, Sink has been linked to Avengers: Secret Wars, as a report from Deadline stated that she is supposed to be reprising her Spider-Man: Brand New Day character in the team-up film. Production is set to begin on Avengers: Secret Wars this summer, with Anthony and Joe Russo helming the big team-up installment. The 2027 entry will also be the end of The Multiverse Saga and Phase 6 as a whole.
The mutants have been stated by to have a larger role in Phase 7, and he has also teased that this iteration will focus on younger takes of the characters, which is where Sink as Jean would fit in perfectly. It also shows that Marvel Studios is already looking to avoid the mistakes of the Fox era of the X-Men, including how they handled Jean. If the rumor is also true about Sink's contract, that means future MCU TV shows will also be keeping X-Men and mutants as a central point for Phase 7 and beyond.
