Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Invincible season 4, episode 6!Conquest, one of Mark's biggest enemies, has been presumed dead. But season 4, episode 6 has a curious post-credits scene, one that toys with the idea of what Conquest's true fate really is. Despite nearly getting beat to death by Mark at the , Conquest lived, later escaping the captivity of the GDA.
Rejoining the Viltrumite forces, he was a core part of the ambush against the Coalition ship, which was transporting Mark, Oliver, and Nolan to Talescria. The ensuing battle began with him nearly killing Oliver by crushing his skull. Luckily, Nolan stepped in, ordering Oliver down to a nearby planet for safety and so he could catch his breath.
However, the couldn't stop Conquest from going down to the planet himself. Just before he could harm Oliver again, Mark stepped in and began choking him to death. In a lengthy battle that resulted in Mark nearly getting ripped in half, he finally managed to overcome Conquest, breaking his neck and killing him for good.
Even so, the end of , episode 6 features a post-credits scene that zooms in on Conquest's grave, suspenseful music playing in the background. But, before anything can happen, the music goes away, and cuts to a far-off shot of the grave. The scene definitively confirms that Conquest is dead, and that Mark finally killed him.
Invincible Season 4, Episode 6's Final Scene Is A Massive (But Hilarious) Trolling Moment
Invincible has a habit of making it seem like characters are dead or threats have been defeated when, in fact, almost everyone has gotten a chance to return. This happened at the end of Invincible season 2 , who Mark didn't kill, leading to the Invincible War in season 3. Other threats, like the Sequids and Flaxans, also returned in season 4.
Throughout the series, returning threats have often been teased in post-credit scenes. In the case of the scene at the end of season 4, episode 6, it begins by making it seem like Conquest might rise from his grave. Of course, this doesn't make sense, considering how he died and the fact he would've been buried for two whole months before digging his way out.
But the scene is still a hilarious trolling moment from the series, as it makes one wonder if Conquest really has been defeated or not. Thankfully, Mark and his family no longer have to worry about the being a threat to their safety. He's the first major Viltrumite to be permanently defeated, an important milestone in the series' continued development.
Why Invincible Is Right To Not Bring Conquest Back Yet Again
Although the show has a habit of continuing to reuse villains season after season, it makes sense for the show to keep Conquest dead. Of every Viltrumite in Invincible, he was one of the most powerful, making him a deadly threat that left an impression in the two episodes he had important roles during. This impression would be soured if he were to return once more.
His story was also brought to a fitting end because he believed he could beat Mark a second time, especially without heroes like Eve to help him. Even though he nearly did kill Mark, ripping his guts out in a brutal fashion, his hubris got the better of him. Defeated by an enemy he underestimated makes for a fitting conclusion to his story.

Conquest's death also serves as the first major casualty of the Viltrumite War, a huge win for the Coalition in the process. Without his presence, it likely made it easier for Thaedus to help coordinate with his people to help free planets under Thragg's control. This war effort would be muted if the antagonist were somehow able to return.
Thankfully, Invincible keeps Conquest dead, using a tongue-in-cheek approach to season 4, episode 6's post-credits scene to showcase he's gone for good. The self-aware moment also makes it clear no one is safe anymore, and that characters will, in fact, begin to die in permanent ways again, upping the stakes as the war continues.
