Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced looks absolutely incredible, doesn't it? The long-awaited remake of is officially setting sail July 9, 2026, which means it at all until we clamber aboard the Jackdaw and explore Caribbean with Edward Kenway. But exactly how big is this remake?
The map of the original Assassin's Creed 4 was not to be sniffed at, and actually remains one of the largest Assassin's Creed games . Black Flag's map is roughly 230–235 square kilometers, with tons of islands to explore. Some of these are tiny little outposts with little of consequence, of course, but there are towns, cities, and vast jungles, too.
So, can we expect Black Flag Resynced to feature a bigger open-world map than the original game? Well, as it turns out, we can. Naturally, you would assume that the remake will have a map more or less exactly the same as the original, but it turns out that Black Flag Resynced will include multiple areas that were previously locked behind DLC for the OG game.
This is according to Assassin's Creed superfan and content creator Zephryss, who was recently sent some exclusive assets by Ubisoft, which includes a gorgeous map of Black Flag Resynced. , Zephryss was quick to point out the remake is folding in three areas of the original map that were previously DLC: Black Island, Mystery Island, and Sacrifice Island. You can see the full map for yourself below.
Given the original Black Flag wasn't exactly a small game (completionists take on average 62 hours), I think it's safe to say Black Flag Resynced will hold our attention for a good long while — especially with Ubisoft is making to the game.

Some of the more notable changes include the removal of instant-fail stealth during tailing missions, and the ability to adopt a cat or monkey to sail with you on the Jackdaw. I mean sure, GTA 6 looks great, but sailing around with a monkey? That's GOTY material right there. Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is shaping up beautifully.
